A Quiet Praise
Do the words quiet and praise go together? Is it possible to make a joyful noise and to be reverent at the same time? What is reverence and how should it be expressed? Should the thought of being in God’s presence fill us with awe and wonder? Is it possible to place more emphasis on praise than God himself; the object of our praise? This CD is my attempt to gain a better understanding of God’s will for his people as it relates to praise and worship.
In the early nineties the popular saying in the night clubs was “get your groove on”. Then a few years later many Christian artist began telling the church to “get your praise on”. I remember a sister telling me a few years ago that the new members of her church did not know how to praise God and that they were being groomed to praise God. When does praise ever come off? How is someone groomed to praise God? In my travels I have met many people who can not separate praise and worship from the hype and excitement seen on religious television programs. To them, praise and worship is associated with how well someone can sing or dance and the glory of God is made known by the energy generated by the singing, dancing, clapping and preaching. When Moses asked God to show him his glory, God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and passing by he declared the attributes of his character. The bible says in (2 Corinthians 3:18) that it is the spirit of God that transforms our lives as we behold his glory. Could it be then, that praise is beholding the attributes of God’s holy character and worship is our submission to his will for our lives?
Psalm 19:1 says that “the heavens declare the glory of God.” Before God Showed Moses his glory he told him, “I will make all my goodness Pass before you and I will proclaim the name of the Lord before you.”(Exodus 33:19) So where ever the goodness of God is seen his glory is made known. Because we believe and have faith in him, we are witnesses of his glory and it is our privilege to declare his goodness not only by what we say, but by how we live. As you listen I invite you to reflect on God’s goodness. May his peace and joy fill your heart. When we think about his goodness, it is impossible not to praise him for all he has done in our lives. God bless you!

Acknowledgments
First I would like to thank God, his grace and mercy is new every day. It is truly a privilege and an honor to serve him with my gifts and to share in the work of spreading the Gospel. A few years ago I realized that God doesn’t need me or my gifts. He doesn’t need a singer or a pianist. He can cause rocks to preach and to sing, but he gives us this great work so that our characters may become more like His.
Second I would like to thank my wife who has been so patient with me while working on this project. Sweet heart I thank God every time I think of you. You are truly one of God’s greatest gifts to me. I didn’t know that one year and six months could go by so quickly. Wow time flies when you’re in love!
